Why Zenus
Why institutions choose Zenus Banking Pro
Built in Nigeria for Nigerian microfinance since 2006, rebuilt for the cloud, and sold on what it does today.
Books that balance by construction
Every customer posting has a general ledger counter-leg, inside the same transaction.
Maker-checker on everything
Loans, journals, expenses, batches, account openings: a second officer, always.
A real field application
Collections recorded in the market, approved at the branch, posted the same day.
Value date and entry date
Catch up yesterday without misdating; never future-dated; never into a closed period.
KYC and credit inside the workflow
BVN, NIN and credit bureau checks where the officer is, not in another tab.
Collections by mandate
Loan instalments charged automatically by direct debit, with retries and a log.
Your own database
One isolated database per institution and a full export whenever you ask.
Transparent pricing
Published plans, a stated implementation fee, no licence lump sum.
Advantages of the cloud
What changes when the core leaves the branch PC
| Desktop / legacy | Zenus Banking Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | One PC or a server in the branch | Any browser, any branch, any phone |
| Backups | Manual, often forgotten | Automated daily, off-site, restorable |
| Updates | Engineer visit, downtime, version drift | Released centrally, every branch on the same version |
| Multi-branch | Emailed exports re-keyed at head office | Live consolidated view, postings booked to the customer's branch |
| Field collection | Notebook, posted later | Android app, batched for approval, posted same day |
| Security | Shared logins, no audit trail | Named logins, role permissions, maker-checker, full audit log |
| Cost | Licence lump sum, hardware, engineer visits | Predictable monthly subscription |
| Data ownership | Locked in a proprietary file | Isolated database, export any time |
Internet outages are the usual objection. Pages are light, postings are idempotent so a retried submission cannot post twice, and field batches are submitted for approval rather than posted live, so a weak signal never leaves a half-posted transaction.
